Canoe Trip
Tourist can also embark on canoe ride along the Rapti River inside the Chitwan National Park and take a close view of crocodiles and other wild animals. Tourist are excited to look at the crocodiles taking sunbath on the river banks and take their photographs. The crocodiles basking motionlessly under the sun with their snouts wide.
The chance to flow along with the river taking close look at the crocodiles and jungle on the river bank attract the tourist to canoe ride. It is also possible to reach Jagatpur, another tourist spot of Chitwan by canoe some 18 km down streams from Sauraha.
A journey down the Rapti river in a traditional ‘dug out canoe offers you the chance to quietly observe the exotic species of birds and animal that come for sip at the waters edge.
In Canoeing ride on the Rapt River you see the popular Marsha Mugger and Ghariyal Crocodiles in theirs' natural habitation. You can see close proximity to them from your canoe boat and the naturalist guide you on their proper way. During the Canoeing you can see the rare species of birds, reptiles and more on wetland.
Elephant Riding
The national park area of Sauraha is most suitable for elephant ride. Elephant ride is also the safest way to enter the jungle while one can observe wild animals and birds from up close. One can enter the dense forest of Sauraha and view the wildlife from close proximity during the elephant ride. It feels very exciting and novel to move along through the quiet forest listening to the sound of wild birds singing from on top of the elephant back. There is also a slogan "Visit Chitwan, Ride Elephant" popularized for promotion of tourism in Sauraha. Four persons can ride an elephant at one time.

Sunset at Sauraha Chitwan
Sauraha is that town beside the huge tourist attraction Chitwan National Park. As such it caters accommodation and tourist services to everyone from 3-4 star guests down to the humble backpacker. And that’s about it. Welcome to my last night in Chitwan.
In the evenings there’s not that much to do. Indeed once it gets dark the town basically shuts up shop. Because Sauraha hasn’t really tried to expand beyond being “that town beside Chitwan”.
A walk down to the Rapti river that separates Sauraha and Chitwan National Park to watch the sunset is about the only thing one can do in the evenings. More than a tourist attraction it’s a great way to watch the sometimes bizarre world of Nepal go by.
